As the largest academic department in KAIST, the School of Electrical Engineering has developed KITSAT-1, a tactile sensor that mimics human skin, the world’s smallest transistor, intelligent robots, and 5G mobile communications technology. The school pursues education and research in various areas such as systems, electronic devices, and smart systems, and gives back to society through volunteering activities.
The various courses offered cover circuits and systems, nano-devices and integrated systems, electromagnetics and photonics, communications, computing, network and security, and signal and systems. Students gain knowledge in areas of interest through theoretical study and experiments. Pioneering efforts are being made in medical engineering, network computing and security, energy and environment, nanotechnology, photonics, and related multidisciplinary fields.
