Dean’s List

Eligibility

Selected by the College of Engineering from among students meeting the following requirements and falling in the top 3% of respective departments.

Academic excellence

Students who fulfill all of the following requirements

  • ◦ Up to top 2%* of students from each department may be selected; an additional 1% may be selected in the category of academic excellence or creative excellence depending on department
  • ◦ Completed at least 12 credits in the relevant semester
  • ◦ Earned at least 9 credits in major courses out of the 12 credits
  • ◦ Received a grade of B+ or higher in all courses
  • ◦ Excludes students who have exceeded the expected time to graduate
  • ◦ Excludes students who have engaged in misconduct within or outside campus, or are facing disciplinary action

* Students on leave and students participating in overseas exchange programs to be excluded from population parameter

Creative excellence

Students who meet at least one of the following: Up to 1% of enrolled students of the College of Engineering in the relevant semester may be selected

  • ◦ Won the first or second prize in an entrepreneurship or idea competition organized by a credible institution
  • ◦ Launched a startup that has been recognized for its high growth potential
  • ◦ Won the top prize in an international competition in one’s major (recognition for a group award to be given to one member as decided by the group)
  • ◦ Published an article as the first or co-author in a leading international journal
  • ◦ Won an award at a major academic conference
  • ◦ Owns a patent recognized for creativity and applicability (excludes patents under application)
  • ◦ Invented an item that has gained wide publicity in the internet or other media for its potential and creativity
  • ◦ Other contributions recognized as having creativity and beneficial to society
  • ◦ Only prizes awarded in the past year are recognized; Patents recognized if registered; Journal articles accepted for publication are recognized; Presentations at academic conferences recognized if the student presenter has played a primary role in the research being presented on.
  • ◦ Completed at least 12 credits in the relevant semester (earned at least 6 credits in major courses out of the 12 credits)
  • ◦ Has an average GPA of 3.0 (B0); Excludes students who have received F/U or C in any course
  • ◦ Excludes students who have engaged in misconduct within or outside campus, or are facing disciplinary action
